Virology Laboratory Assistant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Virology Laboratory Assistant for 5 month contract on a rate of £15.02/hour (PAYE).
Responsibilities:
– The requirement of this role is to carry out support level laboratory work (registering, processing, growing on and testing of potato tubers) to allow timely diagnostics and reporting of a range of viruses to meet the organisation’s commitments in relation to plant health legislation and seed potato classification.
– Core requirements of role: Receipt, preparation, processing, and testing of statutory virus testing samples as required for production and trade of seed potatoes in Scotland.
– Manual and glasshouse work: lifting and handling large bags of potatoes for testing, planting, maintenance and sampling of potato material.
– Working within a quality assurance laboratory system.
– Experience with ELISA testing is Desirable, but not essential.
