Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit 2 x Planning Enforcement Officers for initial 6 month contracts with potential to extend on a salary of £33,700-£39,251/annum. These roles will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.

Responsibilities:
 
– Providing expert advice to support the aims of the development plan by assessing unauthorised development and taking action when necessary.
– Supporting the aims of the recently agreed Planning Enforcement Charter by adhering to its service pledges and achieving the service standards set by the Charter.
– Providing expert technical planning advice to inform stakeholders both internally and externally.
– Implementing actions as required in the progress of enforcement cases; from the timely initial preparation of Planning Impact Reports through to the preparation of enforcement notices, planning applications, appeal statements, High Hedge Notice applications and assisting in any direct action and/or legal action through the preparation of reports and provision of oral evidence at court if necessary.
– Carrying out statistical research and presenting resulting reports (as required by the Principal Planner) on issues relating to any planning enforcement related activity, as may be necessary.
– Contributing proactively to the improvement of the service delivery provided by the team by innovative thinking and demonstration of effective organisational skills and decision making.

Essential Skills:
 
– Educated to degree level or demonstratable investigative experience within law enforcement, planning or licensing
– Competent IT skills.
– Ability to make effective presentations.
– Strong inter-personal, negotiation and facilitation skills.
– Experience or knowledge of Planning Enforcement and Development Management legislation and guidance
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– The ability to work effectively alone and as a team member.
– Excellent attention to detail.
– Ability to identify innovative solutions to problems.
– Well-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines.
– Excellent time management and organisation.
– Full driving licence
 
Desirable Skills:
 
– Educated to degree level in spatial planning or related built environment discipline (or equivalent)
-Chartered RTPI membership or equivalent professional membership.
– Experienced in the use of geospatial information communication technologies (GIS).
– Understanding of local government, political, economic and social environment.
– Evidence of continuous self-development.
