Waste Management Assistant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Inverness, is currently looking to recruit a Waste Management Assistant for a contract until November 2026 on a rate of £17.91/hour (PAYE).
Responsibilities
– Carry out regular monitoring and reporting on kerbside household and business recycling collection routes, identifying contamination to help improve the overall quality of recyclable material collected.
– Assist with engagement activities at Household Waste Recycling Centres to help maximise recycling and reduce waste disposal by providing advice and guidance about recycling to site users.
– Assist with the identification and investigation of any breaches of waste legislation as set out in the Environmental Protection Act 1990 from households and business waste producers across the region.
– Assist with administration processes, including contamination procedures, record keeping on Excel spreadsheets and liaison with relevant colleagues and external stakeholders.
– Respond to high volume of enquiries via e-mail and telephone.
– Assist with door knocking, delivering talks to communities and attending community events to promote the use of the kerbside recycling service.
Essential Skills:
– Previous experience of working in a customer facing role such as community engagement, customer services, marketing, enforcement or waste communications role.
– Excellent communication and people skills.
– Experience in dealing with challenging situations and/or conflict resolution.
– Ability to organise and plan activities to meet deadlines and achieve targets, including managing your own workload and multi-tasking.
– Excellent problem-solving skills and solution focussed
– Excellent knowledge and ability to make proficient use of ICT including Excel and Word
– Self-motivation, with the ability to work on your own initiative
– Ability to contribute to a successful team and to build successful working partnerships.
– You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Highland to meet the operational requirements of the Service, possession of a clean driving licence is therefore required.
